Hi all y'all. I'm glad I found this site and have enjoyed finding much needed information the past few days. Thought I'd take some time and post an introduction.

My name is Sharon. My hubby, Bill, and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary. We have 3 sons (Will - 11, Samuel - 8, Nicholas - 6). We also have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 bearded dragons, 1 hamster, 1 rabbit, 4 ducks, 2 turkeys, and 31 chickens. We've had the ducks and turkeys since mid-March and the chickens since the last of April. I had a nasty snapping turtle from the pond eat one of my ducks and my mini dachshund, but we've since taken care of him (the turtle). Ever seen a snapper that's 1 1/2 feet long not including the tail? I had never seen one that big before but after I figured out what happened to my little dog it's sort of been relocated. It's sad, but I'm trying to move through it.

Anyways, we moved to our small farm (7 1/2 acres) in Ohio this past January. We moved up from VA and it took us 2 years to find the house we wanted to buy. It was worth the wait. We have a 150 year old house on a beautiful piece of property. It's layed out real nice. Lots of trees, fruit trees, fencing, quiet road... The barn is going to be a major renovation project, but one of these days I'll get started. Right after I get finished with the other dozen projects I'm in the middle of.

In the spring I'd like to put together a large pottager garden and include a small coop with some fancy chickens. Right now we have a pen with rhode island reds and another pen with both black jersey giants & white rocks. Those hubby picked out. I'm going to pick out the ones for my garden area. I'm looking for some fancy different chickens. Anway, I'm typing a book so I suppose I should stop. Nice to meet you.

Smiling & Waving,
Sharon

Thank you for all the welcomes and letting me know there is humor around here. I wasn't sure what to think about your post on the saddles & this being a family site, debbiefl. I was thinking more along the lines of wholy smoke Batman, is she serious? I like to have fun and laugh. I don't doubt on occasion JamesC has too much funny in him and has to let a bit out to relieve the pressure. Again, thank you for all the welcomes and I look forward to eventually becoming a full fledged chicken.

Hi Sharon, welcome to the site. Its nice to have someone on the site from down here on tobacco road. I believe David from Pink hill? is fairly close also. Cant believe you left Gods country for the dreary winters of Ohio, guess yall wanted to do some time as snow bunnies. Well, time to go give the watermelon junkies their morning fix. Again welcome to the site, pure heaven for chicken lovers. chickenplucker

Hi CP. I have to admit I was born in MI. Met hubby in WV while we were at school and then slid further south. We've lived in a lot of places including Tarboro, NC, Greenville, NC, and Max Meadows, VA. We moved to OH from Max Meadows. We've been here 2 1/2 years now, but I'll always miss VA. It took us 2 years to find the house we wanted to buy and it was rough with us all crammed into a tiny rental. I thought it would take a couple months, maybe, so I had most everything in storage. Felt like we were in a nightmare that wouldn't end. Anway, it was worth the wait because I love where we're at. We don't have the land we had before, but we have 7 1/2 acres. We live in a 149 yr old 2 story brick. We have a 1/4 ac pond, most of the fencing is sound, and I have a huge barn renovation project to start on one of these days. The crabby lady we bought the house from sold the gates so we have 8 gates to buy. Anway, I could go on and on because I like to babble.

Smiling & Waving,
Sharon
