The new chicks came today. I think there are ten Buffs and ten Barred Rocks. This time the chicks are in a tack room in a barn so I am positive nothing will get in there....unless the door gets left open :?
I am happy but I am also frustrated because I have to start all over again. If the other chicks didn't get killed, they would be about six weeks old by now.

Good luck on this batch, I feel really lucky nothing has got into mine with the quantities of 4 leggers we have here. Now its rather hot during the days 85 today and 2 weeks ago it was near freezen
Gotta love this state.
My 2nd youngest batch have been outside for a few days during nice weather. Notrhing has gotten in yet. I did put bird netting for berry bushes over the run though with all the hawks and cats around here.
Now taht baby is here I need to work on the outside more. Fri we got 75 more chicks coming. Luckily today the feed store closed 5 mins b4 we got there

I just love to see the little guys, face first in the dirt (or shavings) lol, sound asleep. Way too cute. Best of luck with these little ones. Thanks for the picture.

All is going well! I will be moving back to my parents house soon. I am worried about the chicks safety, but the coop is built really well. There will be wire across the top of the run and chicken wire along the sides. There are many predators out there but I am confident none of the chickens will get killed.
