I love the Meyer Hatchery! It's really a wonderful place to buy small orders like I do. So far I've gotten 11 chicks from them, and they sexing has been perfect. Also, they treat me so well when I go to pick up my chicks--you would think I ordered 100 chicks! They greet me nicely, let me look at the chicks to make sure I'm happy with them, and when I call on the phone, they're always very accomodating. Very pleasant. They have a lovely store too that is clean and neat. The place never smells like a chicken barn either. The store has some cute chicken decor, plus practical things like feeders and bedding, and medicines. They have a video too now that you can watch, which shows what goes on behind the scenes that is really interesting.

I also forgot to mention that this year, they have added several new breeds that I am excited about, like the Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Anconas, Light Brahmas, Dark Cornish, and much more. Their catalog is the best, with color photos of the breeds, along with a nice description listing weight, cold/heat tolerance, egg color, size, production, and temperament.

So hands down, I vote for the Meyer Hatchery in Polk Ohio!

I am also very pleased with Meyer Hatchery. I ordered 100 Buff Orpington pullets and 12 Buff Orpington cockreals in 2008. They sent me 4 extra pullets and 3 extra cockreals. I didn't request it, but they took the time to box cockreals in one box and pullets in another and labeled them. All 119 chicks arrived alive and healthy. I still have about 30 chickens from this order today. They are big, beautiful and good layers and are excellent mothers. I sold most of the flock and got a very good price for these chickens. For a hatchery they have very reasonably priced chicks that are not junk. I recieved very good quality chicks that were very true to the breed, not show quality, but there is no question that my Buff Orpingtons ARE Buff Orpingtons.

Customer service was great. They were very friendly and nice when I called them on the phone. I did not have one problem with this hatchery, they shipped the chicks when they said they were going too, they sent me what I ordered, and they took the extra time to seperate and box my chicks according to sex. Plus, since the price of their chicks are not out of this world, I was able to save some cash.

This flock of chickens that came from Meyer Hatchery has paid for itself with the eggs I've sold from this flock and the chicks I've raised and they have brooded and raised and sold.

Kudos to Meyer Hatchery, great chicks, great prices, great people.:)

Here's a picture of the chicks the day I got them in 2008.
