Senior Chicken

I got the soymeal for the chicks, I really like that it's small enough for them to eat but won't get lost if I toss it in the grass. Usually I give out cracked corn to my roos in the yard. Do you think I could give them the soymeal instead? It's all they eat besides foraging, just seems too hot for corn and I need something the rain won't destroy.

Hi James, I was wanting to make sure I did not receive bantams, the guy at privitt said they were standard and then said they will get about 6 to8 pounds other sites say their DC get larger the chicks seemed small to me but now 3 days laterthey are looking as big as the other standards. You hear the occasional horror story about getting the wrong birds and was trying to find that out now not in a year as I am doing some crossbreeding with this bird and will do some genetic culling when they mature and size is important to my breeding plan. Hi Ed:
Cornish eggs from Large Fowl birds are not large in size, so the chicks tend to be smaller than some other Large Fowl breeds. They sure pick up as they grow!!! Bantam Cornsih lay a relatively large egg as compared to Large Fowl Cornish but if you're familiar with them you'd likely be able to tell.
Did you order Bantam and think you might have received Large instead?
